World Environment Day 5 June 2010

In honour of World Environment Day on 5 June, RUC joined the United Nations Environment Programme’s Plant for the Planet campaign. The goal of the campaign is to encourage people, communities, organisations and governments worldwide to plant indigenous trees in their areas. The target is set at 12 billion trees, with 10,237,769,102 already planted and nearly 12 billion pledged. During the talk to the children and youth Robert officially welcomed and blessed a very special talking rooi els tree as the newest member of our congregation. Members of the Sunday school planted her in the church garden afterwards and made her feel very welcome.
